PPP candidates in the field for all 7 general seats of the Senate from Sindh
PPP candidates in the field for all 7 general seats of the Senate from Sindh. Is PPP trying to win elections by horse trading?
According to the details released by the Election Commission, PPP candidates will contest all the 7 general seats in Sindh in the Senate 2021 elections to be held next month. A total of 10 candidates will contest in these 7 seats.
A total of 17 candidates will be contesting from Sindh for the general, technocrat and women’s seats, out of which Faisal Wawda of PTI, Faisal Sabzwari of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and Sadruddin Shah of Grand Democratic Alliance will contest for the general seat.
PPP’s Saleem Mandviwala, Sherry Rehman, Jam Mehtab, Shahadat Awan, Taj Haider, Sadiq Memon and Dost Ali Jaisar will be contesting for all the general seats.
Four candidates will contest for the two technocrats’ seats, including PPP’s Farooq H Naik, Karim Khawaja, PTI’s Saifullah Abro and Tehreek-e-Lubaik Pakistan’s Ishaullah Khan.
On the other hand, 3 women candidates will be in the fray for the 2 seats reserved for women, in which PPP’s Palwasha Khan, Rukhsana Shah and MQM’s Khaleda Ateeb will contest in the 2021 Senate elections.
If we look at the number of seats in the Sindh Assembly, the PPP has a total of 99 seats while the PTI, MQM and GDA have 65 seats. In this regard, the PPP’s fielding of 7 candidates for 7 general seats is a question mark and the impression is being given that the PPP wants to win all the seats through horse trading.
Former President Asif Ali Zardari has said that PPP will be the largest party in the Senate.
It may be recalled that former MQM MPA Mahfooz Yar Khan had claimed that our people were bought in a hospital in the Senate election 2018. He was told to come and get medicine and bring bags full of money.
